 BICYCLES AND CYCLING. We have a few adult touring bicycles of various sizes for hire: See below for ideas on interesting places to ride locally.

WALKS. There is a wealth of walking terrain in the Highlands. Whether you wish to climb challenging Munros or take a short stroll by the riverside or venture along wooded trails there is something for everyone! Below are some suggestions for activities in the local area (less than 10 miles away), and or course we can give you extra help and advice when you arrive.

1. Rosehall trails. A variety of short forest walks are on our doorstep, all colour-coded and waymarked. The  "wildwood trail" has been created with the help of local schoolchildren. Look out for the colourful and informative artwork and audio buttons as you progress round!  The Achness Hotel is nearby if you feel like nipping off for some refreshment, and the wonderful Achness Falls make a good picnic spot. The Sika trail, around Doir a' Chatha,  can be done by bike, but it also makes a worthwhile 7-8 mile walk.

2. Alt an Tuir Burn. There is a charming circular walk of around 5 miles, starting from the Rosehall Stores. Watch out for the unusual calls of the Sika deer!

3. Raven's Rock Gorge.  A hidden gorge  walk of 45 minutes, taking you back in time :ancient trees covered in moss and lichens, ferns, alpine flowers are some of the things to see and of course the bear (wood-carving only!).

4. Achany/Gruids. Slightly further afield along the Lairg road you can venture down to Achany and return by the Gruids woods, a lovely meander along quiet tracks.

5.Invershin /Shin Falls/Achany. There are various combinations to make this either a 6-7 mile hike, or you can just stop by Shin Falls to watch the salmon leap and browse around the visitor centre. A bicycle may come in handy for this trip too! You could make a 25 mile circuit from here - Lairg - Shin Falls- Invershin.

6. Oykel Bridge/Strath Oykel. Nice riverside walk, quaint suspension bridges, mountain backdrop, peace and quiet!
